Tulum, Mexico

Isla Mujeres, Mexico

Let’s talk Tulum. What an absolute dream vacation, clear water, clear skies and clear tequila! We started off our vacation with a long drive from the airport, Alkaline Tulum is on the bottom part of Mexico so it took us about 2.5hrs to get there with dropping other people off on the way. We stayed in the Bahia Principe Grand Tulum Resort. Travel Tip: The resort has multiple “hubs” defiantly try the other restaurants as well as snack bars, they have different themes for each place.

We decide to take a day trip on the catamaran which I highly recommend, some of the best tequila I’ve ever had was on this excursion on a little Island. You get to taste I think, was 6 different tequilas, the big pour kinda tasting. Mango and coffee tequila for the win. You then get about two hours to eat relax, they also had a DJ and a photographer running around and a little market to shop. After some fun on the Island the catamaran took us to the middle of the ocean where a 25min snorkeling swim took place. This was super fun and all but its now 2pm and we’ve been drinking.. all day. What was supposed to be a 25min adventure swim to see the marine life felt like a swim for survival, the waves plus the drinking didn’t mix well but made it defiantly something to laugh at later. I highly recommend the catamaran trip for any age, there’s music, the crew was amazing and they brought us up to dance, helped when ever needed. We were defiantly down for the count after this long day of drinking.

On the strip of down town Tulum, you have to most stunning restaurants I’ve ever been too. The first one we tried was called Taboo, which my Toronto people, feels like Cabana but the vibe is 1000x better! They had the most incredible food lamb burgers, creamiest goat cheese dip, sweet potato fries drizzled in honey amazing. This restaurant was right on the beach with performers, a DJ, swings, body painting you could even buy hookah. Travel Tip: The portions at this restaurant is huge and they are a little pricy, i recommend shared appetizers and a main. No desert or sides needed.

Later in the week we also went to Gitano, another restaurant located on the other side of down town Tulum, with views of the beach. Gitano’s guacamole, fresh creamy a defiant must try and their churros, dipped in caramel sauce with a splash of tequila.. incredible.

More things to do in Tulum I highly recommend (unfortunately was unable to do because of closures) Visiting Raw love. The photo op their is just unreal, you can also order some really amazing food from their restaurant. Another place to check out is any sort of day trip to the Mayan ruins, the tours do such a good job explaining the history of Mexican culture and how beautiful it is. I highly recommend leaving your resort at any time during you trip to get a authentic experience for the place you came to visit that you can’t get at the resort.
